Desserts Party

From the John’s Socials page:

In Michaelmas, we hold a Desserts Party after dining in Hall. Students are joined by fellows in the intimate setting of the Wordsworth Room to enjoy a fine selection of wines, fruit, cheese, and occasionally, even actual desserts!

Desserts Party 2012

The Desserts Party this year will be on Monday 19th November.

The cost will be £18 for those who wish to be served alcohol and £12 for those who do not. Please e-mail Sunil Ghosh (sg600@cam.ac.uk) if you would like to come, and indicate whether you would like to be served alcohol and whether you have any dietary requirements or allergies. This is on a first-come, first-served basis as we cannot accommodate everyone in the Wordsworth Room. After e-mailing, please put a cheque payable to “St. John’s College Adams Society” in Sunil’s pigeonhole to pay for it.

The party will start at 8.45 p.m. and the dress code is lounge suits and gowns. Most people go to hall beforehand and leave after the second grace has been read to arrive at the Wordsworth Room in time, so if you would like to come to hall beforehand then do book a ticket via Upay.

The deadline for payment for those wishing to attend is Monday 12th November.

Desserts Party 2011

After dining in Hall, we will gather in the elegant Wordsworth room, where a variety of exotic fruits and cheese will be served, accompanied by wine, port and coffee. Guest speaker will be Ocean Scientist Professor Peter Wadhams.

Peter Wadhams went on his first expedition, the Hudson-70, while still studying in Cambridge: they accomplished the first circumnavigation of the Americas, and received the Bronze medal of the Government of Canada. In 1987, Peter received the Polar Medal presented by H.M. The Queen and he was director of the Scott Polar Research Institute from 1987 to 1992. He is president of the IAPSO (International Association for the Physical Sciences of the Ocean) Commission on Sea Ice and co-ordinator of many international research projects related to sea ice and ocean science.

Dress code: Suits and Gowns.

Before the Desserts Party, we will go to hall together. The cost is going to be around £15 and will be added to your buttery bill. Non drinking tickets are available and cheaper.
